The Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night, and Doja Cat is fashion’s biggest rebel. Fittingly, Doja Cat’s Met Gala 2024 look was yet another opportunity for the star to wear the weirdest thing possible. From wearing a hazmat suit at Coachella to accessorizing with a suitcase and red wine on the red carpet, Doja Cat knows no limits when it comes to taking fashion risks. While we weren’t surprised to see other Met Gala guests playing it safe and donning floral dresses, we know better than to expect the same from Doja.
Earlier today, Doja was seen wearing a completely see-through plastic poncho—a shower curtain, if you will. While we figured this was a hint about her Met Gala look, it only left us more confused. To add to the confusion, Doja was seen leaving for the Met Gala wearing only a towel and runny eye makeup. Fans used these two looks to try and predict the over-the-top look Doja would pull off tonight. While some thought she would show up naked and others suspected another “sleeping beauty” hotel-inspired look, nothing could’ve prepared us for what was actually to come. After all, when you’re as bold as Doja, nothing is ever off the table.
To the 2024 Met Gala, Doja Cat wore a floor-length water-soaked T-shirt. Paired with the same runny eye makeup as before, Doja looks like she just stepped out of the shower. While we know Doja loves a barely-there look, this isn’t exactly what we were expecting from her Met Gala look. Her dress clings to her body and doesn’t leave anything to the imagination. How surprisingly on-brand is it for Doja to use the Met Gala as an excuse to wear what most of us sleep in?
Whether you love it or hate it, you have to admit Doja Cat knows how to pull off a bizarre ensemble. After so many strange looks, we expected something of this caliber from Doja. Although we half wanted her to show up wearing nothing at all, this is pretty much the next best thing.
